TREASURY SECRETARY MNUCHIN SAYS APRIL 15th FILING DEADLINE EXTENDED TO JULY 15th.

Today, Treasury Secretary Mnuchin tweeted “At [President Trump’s] direction, we are moving Tax Day from April 15 to July 15. All taxpayers and businesses will have this additional time to file and make payments without interest or penalties.”

In addition, a bill before the Senate, the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (S. 3548), would also push back the April 15th filing deadline until July 15th.

Obviously, the question now is whether states will also delay the April 15th filing date and waive penalties and interest. Please check your state’s website for updates. Things are changing daily!
